Delivery of first O3K Modems

In February and June 2023 Celestia STS made first deliveries of their brand-new product O3K Optical Modem aka Optical Digital Converter (ODC) to two new undisclosed customers.

Optical Modems are a crucial element of Optical Ground station (OGS) which istypically composed of various HW elements namely: telescope, deformable mirror, fine steering mirror, sensors, control units, optical receiver, optical digital converter.

Celestia STS is involved in ODC development since 2018 and is a member of the big laser satcom consortium led by TNO, where end-to-end laser satcom solutions are being developed.

The optical modem provides reception and processing functionality of digital bitstreams output by optical detectors. It is used for electrical, data extraction, protocol/data handling, error correction and status annotation functions. The recovered data is offloaded from the modem using a dedicated 10Gbit TCP/IP streaming interface to a commercial server platform for data storage and further processing.
